Blog Post 13
So I kind of gave up on my wolf walk animation at the moment. I've been busy with other classes and I haven't been enjoying working on the wolf walk because I don't feel like I am progressing with it at all.

I've decided to use what time I have left in this semester to polish my 545 animation.

I am really bad at naming my scenes. I thought I lost multiple scenes due to how I named them.

This week I decided to put off my wolf walk animation again because I currently not enjoying working on it. So I started to play around in motionbuilder.

I was having a lot of trouble in the begging since I haven't used motionbuilder in a while. What I am currently doing is getting used motionbuilder again by trying to make a really short animation. I am going t animate over parts that I think need to be changed

After I added the premade animations to the story of my character I tried bringing it into maya and the file would not read. I found out that I didn't bake the animation to the skeleton so once I did that it worked.

Also I am trying to bring my stick figure rig into motionbuilder but it isn't loading in. So I am trying to rig it in maya.

This week I mainly focused on my fixing my scenes for my part of the 545 animation So I didn't get to work on the wolf walk. I stitched together all of my shots for my scenes together to help me see what I needed to fix.

I remade my 4th and 5th scene and tried working on the transitions between each shot. Right now I feel that each time I switch to a new shot the momentum from the previous scene is stopped. But also When I try to let the shot stay longer it makes the shot feel awkward.

I am still working on these scenes and I will get back to my wolf walk as soon as I can.

This week I went through a tutorial by Felix Sputnik on animating a quadruped. I was having a lot of problems in the beeging because I missed a key that Sputnik went over in his tutorial. But I am also having a problem with my current animation because as of right it doesn't look like Sputnik's cycle.

This week I was pretty busy with work from other classes so I again I couldn't spend that much time on my wolf animations.

I haven't touch my wolf walk from last week because I didn't know what I should fix next. Right now I am playing around with a new wolf rig from Gumroad that I've been playing around with now. And while playing with this rig I've ran into some problems. For some reason the textures on the rig would bug out and not display and I would have to go manually reassign the textures.

I like the rig so far and hope it doesn't cause too many issues in the future.

This week I continued to work on my wolf walk animation. I mostly worked in the graph editor during this time trying to get the animation to loop smoothly.

I also worked on the feet of the wolf for the animation. I tried moving the keys around to change the timing of the feet. But when I would do this it would cause the animation to be out of sync. So I had to use the graph editor to fix the post-infinity.

Again this week I didn't have time to work on my wolf animations. I continued to work on my animation for 545. I had problems with one of my scene files for scene 6a and had to redo that scene.

After I redid the scenes I added a little camera movement again to one of my cameras. The transitions between the two scenes is off because I forgot where I had the moth in the next part of the scene. I will fix the transitions soon.

Also during the break I am going to try and focus on fixing my wolf animations.

This week I didn't have much time to work on my wolf howl animation. I didn't like the sound I used for the howl and I started making a new one. But this week I worked on my animations for 545.

I started animating the camera in my scenes but I think that I am moving them too much. Also I think that I need a better transition to the moth flying

Blog Post 5

I decided this week that I will start a new cycle animation. Currently I am trying to make a cycle of a wolf howling.

It wasn't too difficult to find references of a wolf howling. Although I couldn't find any 3D animated wolves howling. Also I am referencing howls and using a different sound file for this cycle so it was difficult trying to imagine how a wolf would look during certain parts of the howl.

I mostly just worked on moving the head and mouth right now and I was going to focus on the other parts of the wolf's body later.

This week I continued working on my wolf walk cycle. I think I am starting to understand post-infinity in Maya because that is what I am currently using for this animation.

I added more movement throughout the wolf to make it seem more alive. Also I'm having problems with the textures on this rig. I don't know how to fix it right now and I don't think its too much on an issue.

The first cycle animation that I will be doing is a walk cycle for a wolf. I still haven't found much helpful tutorials on animating a quadruped. There were a lot of references but not many tutorials.

One tutorial that I did use helped me get started on the walk cycle but the rig I am using is rigged differently so I ran into some issues following it. I also had to relearn what post-infinity with offset does in the graph editor since I haven't animated a cycle in a while.

This is one of the reference videos I am using.

I decided to do a walk cycle instead of working on my previous animation. I don't know if I want to use the same stick figure rig that I've used before, or look for another rig I like.

I will be watching tutorials from Pluralsight and YouTube since I haven't animated a stick figure in a while.

Also I was thinking about animating a wolf walk cycle but I don't know how much harder it will be for me do to that instead.

This semester I am planning on finished the stick figure parkour animation I started last semester. this semester I want to actually finish this and also polish it up for my demo reel.

Weekly Blog Post 12

I cleaned up parts of my Parkour animation.

I also restarted my CAGD 441 animation because I wanted to do something different.

Weekly Blog Post 11
During the break we had I worked on the positions of the parts of the wing.

Also I worked more on the jump. I added some movement in the arms and removed the pose before the jump where the stick figure bent forward.

Weekly Blog Post 10
This week I tried to animate some wings onto the stick figure

I looked up things such as rotoscope and key driven to try and animate some wings but I could not find much to help me with it, so I decided to try and animate some "wings"

Weekly Blog Post 9
This week I worked on the start of the jump and I leaned the back of rig more to try and add more impart to the jump.

I also planned more of the animation out by re watching my 2D animation

Weekly Blog Post 8

This week I worked on building the world for my animation and made plans for the rest of the scenes.

I ran into an issue when referencing my 2D version. In the 2D version my character ran through a building, but because I drew him over the building it made it look like he was running past it instead of through it. I was thinking for this part I would have the figure kick off the wall at an angle to push him onto the platform

Also when looking through my rigs folder I noticed I had a girl stick figure rig. I plan on using her for later scenes.

This week I worked more on the jump and landing for my parkour animation. I had issues with adding impact to the jump and the landing. I had to change the placement of the feet to some impact for both the jump and the landing.

I still haven't worked on the arms and upper body yet and I think that after I play with them a bit I could add more impact and flow throw the jump.

Weekly Blog Post 6
This week I worked on making the stick figure run towards a box. I also tried to start making the figure jump over the box. I ran into a lot of issues with this part because I had trouble adding impact to the start of the jump.

I eventually got it looking alright, but I had to focus more on the legs so I did not animate the arms yet. I think that after I had movement to the arms the figure will have more of an impact when jumping.

While animating I accidentally hit the space bar and got the screen with multiple view ports. I then noticed that it would be a lot easier to animate this part of the animation on the orthographic side view. And once I started doing this I noticed other problems with the figure and was able to fix most of them.

Weekly Blog Post 5

Again this week I had to find another focus for this semester. This time I would like to recreate the 2D animations I created in high school in 3D. The first animation I want to recreate is my animation called Parkour.

I bought a 3D stick figure rig to use in my animations. I played around with this rig so I could get a better feel of it.

Weekly Blog Post 4

This week I had to come up with a different focus for this semester. What I now what to focus on is motion capture.

I want to make an use the Mocap system to make an animation set for a character. I don't know which specific style I want to do yet. But I wanted to do something similar to the video below and make things such as idle animations

I don't have much work done yet because I just changed my focus and hadn't had the time to really plan out what I want to do yet. And since I don't have my own Mocap equipment I don't know if I would be able to use the schools equipment, so I might have to use assignments from the Mocap class.

This week I started planning out what I would need to make a short game. I thought of what type of game I wanted to make and what I would need for it. I decided to do a 3D platformer because I think it would be fun and would help refresh me on scripting in Unity.

I'm using assets that I've made in previous classes but I'm planning on making more and refining the one I currently have.

I tried using GAIA to create terrain for the levels. But its currently too complicated for me and I have to watch some more tutorials to better understand how to use this asset

Weekly Blog Post 2

This week I was still deciding on the project I want to work on. I am currently watching scripting tutorials on the Unity website so I can learn more about scripting for games.

I also purchased a Unity Humble Bundle that included assets that I hope will help me make a small game. The bundle included the assets: Universal Sound FX, Inventory Pro, Realistic Effects Pack 4, and more. I don't have much experience working with these assets yet but I am going to look into each of them to see how I will be able to use them in my project.

Weekly Blog Post 1

This week I had the task of figuring out what I should be focusing on for this course. My plan for this semester is to work on my skills in game programming. I either plan to make a small game every week or two, or to work on one game for the whole semester and present what I've learned throughout the semester. I plan on using Unity for my projects. If I am unable to focus on game programming then I plan on making a short animation.
